Miss Fitz-Poste's Fringe Picks

Miss Emily and I have been extremely quiet lately but lest you should think we have forgotten about you, our lovely chums, let me reassure you that we are looking forward to our return to the 1920s on Sunday 12th September, and we are missing each and every one of you terribly. Or at least we would be, were we not running our gorgeous little shoes off hitting the Fringe.

I have a few recommendations for those of you looking to add a little vintage-flavoured fun to your August during our short absence. Find Miss Fitz's recommendations below, complete with links to full reviews on Edinburgh Spotlight.

120 Birds is an accesible, tongue-in-cheek multimedia dance piece inspired by the international travels of dance troupes in the 1920s and features some truly inspiring vintage fashions.

The central segments of Base Elements feature a modern take on the classic serpentine dance, where a dancer's costume consists of masses of flowing silk, skillfully maneuvred to form hypnotic, mesmerising shapes.

David Leddy's Sub Rosa lives up to the hype - a chilling gothis mystery revealing the brutal world behind the scenes of a Victorian music hall, superbly staged in a Masonic Lodge previously unopen to the public.

For a bit of good old-fashioned cabaret you can't beat our home from home, the Ghillie Dhu. We particularly enjoyed Me! Me! Me! and Viva le Cabaret.

Flying the Tea Dance flag are Susan and Gary of Fly Right Dance Company. This is the event to hit if you want to polish up your foxtrot and Charleston moves in advance of our upcomin events, and the cocktails and canapes come with the ticket!

And last but by no means least is The Vanishing Horizon, a visually stunning piece of theatre which tells the story of the female pioneers of aviation and travel.
